John Mudd, the President, asks, "Where is our humanity" when the Coalition for the Homeless reports, "In August 2021, 47,979 homeless people, including 14,881 homeless children, sleeping each night in the New York City municipal shelter system. A near-record 18,357 single adults slept in shelters in August 2021."

The MSCC's seven programs which focus on solutions and the cycle of growth, are: Arts & Culture, Beautification & Environment, Building Communities, Education & Awareness, Homeless & Housing Support, Urban Farming, and Volunteer & Internships, to achieve its mission, build social infrastructure, drive change, create equity, improve health care, advocate and provide resources to end homelessness and work toward a fairer criminal justice system.
